OBAT Canada is a Canadian volunteer-driven charity that invests in humanity by providing opportunities for prosperity for the needy, so that they can be empowered to lift themselves out of poverty, improve gender equality, and create a better future for themselves and their children. Founded in 2017, we received charitable status as of January 1, 2018.
Our primary focus is locally in Canada as well as in South Asia, a region where a substantial portion of the population lives below the international poverty line and face significant challenges around female illiteracy and child mortality.
OBAT Canada is an independent organization that works extremely closely with OBAT Helpers which was initially formed as a family initiative to alleviate the suffering of the internally displaced communities in Bangladesh with limited funds raised through friends and family. OBAT is an acronym formed by the first letters of the names of the parents of Anwar and Afshan Khan, the founders of this charitable initiative.
Please note that all donations are eligible for a Canadian tax deductible donation receipt for. We encourage our supporters in the US to donate to OBAT Helpers.
