Education for a Brighter Future

Secondary School in Syedpur – Entire year’s support for 2 students

We support a secondary school that serves 125 students providing full-time, high-quality education to boys and girls from the displaced population camps.

Rohingya Relief

Rohingya Relief (Restorative Eyesight Surgery for 6 people)

Cataract surgery and correction of refractive errors are among the most cost-effective health interventions and ones with the highest personal, economic and societal impact.

We periodically arrange for pre-screening sessions and surgeries for members of disadvantaged and impoverished communities.  Patients are examined and operated on free of cost. A gender balance provides equal opportunity for females. This procedure converts patients from being burdens on families into productive members of society.

Education for a Brighter Future

The Hilm community knows the importance of a good education, one that nourishes the mind and uplifts the spirit. Teenagers living in displaced population camps are not able to access expensive tutorial sessions required to help successfully complete high school and get the grades required to earn the best higher education opportunities. These youth would have to settle for menial and manual jobs if they are unable to to pursue their studies beyond high school. We think they should be allowed to dream big like any other person, so we are raising money to send 10 teenagers to the OBAT Canada Tutorial program. Tailored evening tutorials are made provided to these children, so that they can reach their full potential. Together, we can help them achieve their dreams.

Enabling Dignity

Access to clean water and sanitation is something we can easily take for granted. We turn the tap and fully expect clean, potable water to flow abundantly while we wash in the privacy of our clean bathrooms. This reality is only a dream for many of the residents of the camps. Access to clean water is difficult, but finding a place to wash oneself with clean water is an even greater struggle. The Hilm community is attempting to build a bathroom in the camp, to provide a clean, safe and dignified place for the residents to wash. We wish for every soul to feel clean and pure, and this project will enable the restoration of the dignity that the residents of displaced population camps in Saidpur rightly deserve.
