Dr. Wasty is actively involved as a volunteer in helping vulnerable and impoverished populations in his birthplace of Canada as well as abroad. For more than a decade, he has traveled extensively to refugee camps and worked with displaced populations in South Asia and elsewhere. He has been very involved with OBAT Helpers USA since 2008 and serves as their Vice-President. In 2017, he founded OBAT Canada, an independent Canadian charity.
He works for the Government of Canada and has previously served on different academic advisory boards, such as the Leadership Council at the Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID) at McGill University. He presents regularly at various international conferences and takes great pride in Canada’s humanitarian tradition.
